MARIA
As a Ringwood based Integrative Counsellor and Supervisor, I have specialised in working with individuals, couples and more recently adolescents and since completing graduate studies I have gained experience working in a range of settings including Primary Care, Young Persons Advice Centre and Relate, the UK’s largest provider of relationship support.
I take pride in being down to earth, calm, non-judgemental and highly empathic, I understand that who we are is more than the disguise we show. By exploring what is beyond this disguise I can mould what I do to what you need.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) www.bacp.co.uk and am subject to its Professional Conduct Procedure. I work strictly to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am committed to working for the client’s best interest; reasonably ensuring their safety; practicing confidentiality; having a transparent working contract; promoting the client’s right to make his own decisions; and treating the client with fairness and respect. I attend regular counselling supervision and work within my level of competence and I am committed to taking continuing professional development.

Individual
THERAPY.
Counselling offers the opportunity to gain self-awareness and use the difficulties that life naturally brings to create growth and change.
It is a unique experience that allows you to take a deeper look at your thoughts, behaviours and repeated lifelong patterns that can cause distress, anxiety or depression. The insight and clarity grained through this process can be incredibly empowering and by working together, lead to significant changes. Whilst you cannot change your past, changing the way that you think about it, can change how it affects your future
Relationship
Therapy.
Communication breakdowns lie at the heart of many relationship problems and with no method to understand one another, frustrations, anger and a disconnection of feelings can lead to misunderstandings, affairs and conflict.
The inability to resolve conflict can affect the warmest of relationships but find a way to communicate your differences can bring couples closer. Relationship counselling can help couples address these problems, learn more useful and effective communication skills as well as the necessary skills and tools to evolve.
My approach focuses on future growth and stronger connections, our past can play a significant role in how we relate to our partners over time and we can learn from this in order to strengthen the relationship and successfully deal with future challenges. My aim is to help you feel empowered and look at your relationship with a new point of view.
Supervision
My theoretical supervision model is based on the work of Hawkins and Shohet and I attained a Certificate of Award in Clinical Supervision.
I offer integrative supervision for counsellors working with individuals, couples and young people, with experience gained at Relate and through private practice. Together we can explore your client’s patterns and the dynamics between you as well as the parallel processes that may appear in our supervision work, this work will be collaborative to support both you and your clients.
I offer support to explore your feelings, your counter-transference, fears and thoughts in your ongoing work with clients.
