Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is an energy therapy that is used to gain relief from emotional and physical problems. It works on the body’s energy system by tapping on energy meridians. It is similar to acupuncture or acupressure in that it uses the body’s meridians to release negative energy, BUT with no needles and no heavy pressure on points – just the gentle tapping of your own fingertips, the results are often amazing. EFT is a self-healing technique that anyone can use and learn.
History of EFT.EFT was developed in the 1990’s by Gary Craig, a trained engineer, who works as a personal performance coach in California. Gary derived EFT from studying Thought Field Therapy (TFT) with tutor Dr Roger Callahan. Gary has been very generous in passing on his knowledge and in working towards everyone becoming informed about EFT (his comprehensive website can be found at www.emofree.com
EFT is based on the premise that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.
Based on impressive new discoveries involving the body’s subtle energies, Emotional Freedom Technique has been clinically effective in many cases for Trauma and Abuse, Stress & Anxiety, Fears and Phobias, Depression, Addictive Cravings, Children’s Issues as well as many physical symptoms. Properly applied, over 80% achieve either noticeable improvement or complete cessation of the problem.
• Often works where nothing else will.
• Usually rapid, long lasting and gentle.
• No drugs or equipment involved.
• Easily learned by anyone.
• Can be self applied.
About me
![]()
I am an Integrative Counsellor and EFT Practitioner.
My counselling career commenced 17 years ago in the field of outplacement where I have worked with individuals and groups, successfully helping clients through career transition following redundancy as a Career Counsellor. In 1995 I commenced more formal counselling training and since qualification have worked as a counsellor in both a voluntary and professional capacity. As well as working in private practice, I also have experience of working in a Community Counselling Service, Primary Care, Assisted Housing for individuals recovering from addictions and I continue to work with individuals affected by redundancy.
I trained to be an EFT practitioner in 2007 because I had such a great experience of EFT myself and I have witnessed some remarkable results with my own clients. Clients may see me purely for EFT, although sometimes I use EFT in a counselling session if a client wishes to use it.
